Galleri Sand Studio

The artist's studio, which is connected to Gallery Sand, sits behind the gallery front. Inside the studio, many of Vebjørn's paintings are on display as well as his works in progress. The second floor displays mostly finished work and a model bridge of Vebjørn's Da Vinci Project.
While most paintings are done by Vebjørn, there are also paintings done by Marianne Aulie, as well as merchandise products such as the doormat or scarves using Marianne's paintings as the design.
The studio space is built to double as an exhibition gallery when needed, utilizing archways and walls instead of structural columns for support. An open, spiral staircase at the back gives an open view of the space as well.

Galleri Sand

Galleri Sand, situated in West Village, currently invites any visitors in the area to view Vebjørn Sand's exhibition of Scenes from the Second World War. Inside, several large oil paintings depict gruesome and gritty scenes of war. However, they are not simple depictions of battle, but of moments in civilization when individuals risk their lives for what they believe in and the looming danger of death as the cost of honesty. Despite the dark shadows that overcasts this time in history, the inner gallery walls hold portraits of Traute Lafrenz Page, a survivor of the White Rose. Her portraits are full of light and warmth, as if radiating from her own inner strength. In his promotional video, which can be viewed here, Vebjørn quotes
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."  Martin Luther King, Jr.
As such, to end the inner gallery with the portrait of Traute Lafrenz Page gives hope and relief to visitors who passed by his darker, raw paintings of humanity.
"Vebjørn's goal for the past 15 years has been to see Leonardo's Bridge erected in Istanbul where it was originally planned in 1502." Excerpt from Scenes from the Second World War.
While Galleri Sand is currently exhibiting Vebjørn Sand, it also represents Øivind Sand, Aune Sand, and Marianne Aulie exclusively.

Vitra store in the Meatpacking disctrict

Although there are many design stores available in Manhattan, the Vitra store is one that designers should make time to visit. The store features furniture from internationally renowned designers such as Charles and Ray Eames and Verner Panton. Many of the collections have been in productions since the 1960's yet remain popular to this day. The Swiss company strives to improve the quality of homes, offices, and public spaces through the power of design.
The lower floor of the store doubles as a design exhibition space, featuring their furniture collections indoors and available to the public for viewing. It is not uncommon to find students and designers frequenting the lower floor for study. Of course, all their items are available for purchase as well.

Le Fanion

To call this antique store precious is actually underwhelming. The 3 floor store carries all sorts of French Provencal pottery, furniture, and interior decorations. Just seeing the store window, you already know what you can find. Standing for more than 20 years, many customers happen to pass by but couldn't resist not taking a look inside the doors.
Many of the potteries are very bright and vivid in color, and the variety of crystal chandeliers are simply amazing. Every inch of the store displays all sorts of pottery and antiques, and one is sure to capture your heart. Whether to buy something for yourself or for someone else, the shop owner, Claude-Noëlle Toly, is very friendly willing to help you out with what you need and what might be better. If you inquire, she is also knowledgeable about the pottery itself and inform you about the artisans or the pottery itself, such as the type of glazes used.
Visit their website for more information, or call to make orders. And, if you're in the area, make sure to stop by and see the store for yourself!
